H M Senior Secondary School, Sheetla Colony, Gurugram, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great patriotic zeal and enthusiasm. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Chief guest Mr. Ashok Batra, a renowned poet, author, educationist, and scholar. Chairman Sir Mr. O. P. Arora, Director Sir Mr. Gaurav Arora, Principal Mrs. Sunita Yadav, Vice Principal Mrs. Neelam Sharma.
The celebration commenced with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, followed by the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with pride and patriotism. The programme then began with a devotional Ganesh Vandana, seeking the blessings for the nation’s prosperity and progress.
Students presented a melodious Patriotic Group Song, which was followed by an inspiring English Speech highlighting the significance of independence and the responsibilities of young citizens in shaping the future of the nation. A graceful Classical Dance Performance captivated the audience with its elegance and cultural richness. The Hindi Speech further reinforced the values of unity, integrity, and national pride.
The students paid a heartfelt tribute to the heroes of the nation through an impactful Act on Freedom Fighters, portraying the sacrifices and struggles of the brave martyrs. The programme continued with a vibrant Fancy Dress Presentation, where students portrayed eminent national leaders and freedom fighters. An energetic Patriotic Group Dance filled the stage with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour, followed by a lively Drum Beat Performance that enthralled the audience.
The next segment featured Ms. Pushpa Bhatti, a proud alumna of H.M. Senior Secondary School, and presently an advocate, author, and career counsellor. She fondly recalled her school days and expressed gratitude towards her teachers for shaping her personality and career. She encouraged students to believe in themselves, and remain focused on their goals.
The patriotic spirit continued with another captivating Patriotic Group Dance, which received thunderous applause from the audience.
Addressing the gathering thereafter, Principal Mrs. Sunita Yadav paid homage to the brave freedom fighters and martyrs whose sacrifices earned India its freedom. She reminded students that true patriotism lies in fulfilling one’s duties towards the nation with sincerity and dedication.
The audience was then enlightened by the inspiring address of the Chief Guest, Mr. Ashok Batra. He spoke about the true essence of freedom and the responsibility that accompanies it. Through his insightful thoughts and literary reflections, he inspired the young minds to uphold the ideals of honesty, compassion, and service to the nation. As a mark of profound respect and gratitude, the school management felicitated the Chief Guest, acknowledging his gracious presence and invaluable contribution to the occasion.
The programme was concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to the guests, management, staff, students, and parents for their valuable contribution to the success of the event.
This was followed by the Momento Distribution Ceremony, after which Group Photographs with Participants and a Group Photograph of Teachers were taken to commemorate the memorable occasion.
The celebration culminated with the collective recitation of “Vande Mataram,” filling the hearts of everyone present with immense pride, gratitude, and devotion towards the nation.
